ABOUT NICK
I
began bass fishing at an early age of roughly 9 yrs old. My dad (Troy Wink) was
my mentor in the sport from which I learned from. At 14 yrs old I joined
the Berks County Anglers as a rider. In my first year I placed 2nd in my
first tournament and 1st in the second tournament. I fell in love with the
sport and was eager to compete against others. That year (1998) I placed
2nd overall in the Angler of the Year standings. Although I did so well my
first year I hit a road block my second season and did not finish the year.
Over the next few seasons I would fish here and there but I did not commit to a
club or circuit. At 17 yrs old I bought my first boat and began
experimenting with new lures and techniques. Again I was fishing
tournaments but not committed and undecided with what direction I was going to
head with my fishing career. In 2005 I decided to rejoin the Berks County
Anglers for a partial season because I was also fishing the JST Fishin Circuit.
That year I placed 13th AOY in the JST Fishing Circuit out of 35 and 6th in the
Berks County Anglers AOY standings. Now at the age of 21, I took the off season
to reflect and to finally decide which direction I was leading. I finally
felt the same passion I had at 14. I guess I went through a rut in the
road between 15-20yrs old.
In
2006 I again joined the Berks County Anglers for a full season and I placed 2nd
in AOY standings, losing by 3 ounces. I again fished with the Berks County
Anglers in 2007 where I won our Battle of the Bass Shootout and I finished 3rd
in AOY standings. So far in my career I have won many tournaments and
placed respectively in a very high percentage that I fished. I continue to
elevate my skills and abilities each year.
